930 VIDEO PRODUCTION II Grades 9 – 12
In this intermediary course students will utilize the skills learned in Video Production I to develop longer works with a
theme. Writing, organization, teamwork, graphics, mechanics and art will be incorporated into project based assignments.
This class requires considerable out-of-class time for the purpose of logistics i.e. scripting, planning, taping, logging and
editing. Investigative reports, documentaries, and demonstration projects require research beyond the classroom.
Students will examine the history of video. Examples of video communication would be video/audio production and editing,
multimedia production, and general authoring procedures.
Students will keep a portfolio and sketchbook that demonstrates development of storyboards, characterizations,
and homework. It is recommended that this class be taken within one year of Video Production I so that the student is
current with the latest technology.
(Prerequisite – Video Production I with a 74 average or better)

2. Storyboard a short story that has a beginning, middle and end.
3. Film a video with a close-up, mid shot and wide shot.
4. Film a video with 3 different camera positions, low, medium, high angle.
5. Edit a video that has a beginning, middle, end and credits.
6. Help another student, film or be an extra in another student’s video.
5 out of 6 of these can be completed with one video.
Groups - Each student is in charge of their own project. They must:
1. Write a short story that has a beginning, middle and end.
2. Storyboard a short story that has a beginning, middle and end.
3. Film a video with a close-up, mid shot and wide shot.

If there are 4 people in a group then each student is graded on 4 projects.
70% of their grade is based on their own project.
20% of their grade is based on their help in the other 3 group projects.
10% of their grade based on behavior and class participation.
Arrangement of groups may change based on assigned, or groups be student choice.
Video ideas: A day in my life - follow student through typical day from getting up to going to bed. Interviews.
Documentary - Video games, ratings are they fair? How has playing videos games changed, from when your parents were kids (Atari), or when you were younger Nintendo?
What do kids your age do for fun? (School Appropriate)
Working versus School work or Sports, how do you balance, pros and cons.
